Dr. Amy Scott Metcalfe is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia.
My scholarship is in the area of higher education policy studies, particularly research policy. My current work considers the interactions between transnational researchers and various policies, whether related to employment or the domestic sphere, and the potential impact on knowledge. As part of my interest in research paradigms, I am intrigued by interdisciplinary approaches, particularly how methods of inquiry from the Arts and Humanities inform the Social Sciences. I am currently developing a methodology for visual research in higher education, building upon visual ethnography, social semiotics, and the visual arts.
